Bravos de FC Juarez tied 1-1 against Mineros de Zacatecas Saturday night at Benito Juarez Olympic Stadium. The Bravos had to come back from a 1-0 deficit to earn the one point that comes with obtaining a tie. Following the match, the Bravos improve to 10th place in the general standings table with 4 total points the 4th week of the 2019 clausura season in the Ascenso MX League.

With 4 points on the season, FC Juarez is only 1 point away from the playoff zone. However, it is important to remember that the team from the Borderland has one match pending versus Dorados as their week 3 match was canceled by the Mexican Soccer Federation due to poor field conditions at the Dorados stadium.

On Saturday night the Bravos went down 1-0 in the 34th minute of play after a penalty kick was called in favor of the visiting side. Roberto Nurse scored on the penalty kick attempt freezing Bravos goalkeeper Enrique Palos.

FC Juarez would get the match equalizer in the 57th minute of play off of a left footed strike by Kevin Gutierrez of a free kick that was called in favor of the local side.

After the match Bravos head coach, Gabriel Caballero was bothered by the result. Caballero commented, “Accumulating point in always good, obviously we left two points on the table. We had opportunities in the first 10 minutes to score early in the match, then we fell behind respond by dominating and scoring the equalizer in the second half, but ultimately we fell short of the victory.”

This disappointing tie will have to be forgotten by FC Juarez as soon as possible as they will have to fly out today to the state of Tamaulipas to face Tampico Madero on Tuesday evening in a Copa MX match. That match is scheduled to kick off at 6pm MST.
