Bravos de FC Juarez advanced to the Ascenso MX League semi-finals for the 2018 Apertura season last Saturday night by way of a higher seed placement after tying with Leones Negros (Black Lions) 1-1 (2-2 aggregate score) at Benito Juarez Olympic Stadium.

The Bravos one again had what it took to overcome a deficit in order to advance to the semi-finals. It was déjà vu for both teams. Leones Negros took the lead in the the early stages of the second half (55th minute) when Luis Fernando Telles would score off a right footed strike from inside the goalbox.

Star forward Leandro Carrijo would score for the home side to eliminate the visiting team in the 71st minute off of a header to keep the Bravos championship hopes alive.

FC Juarez will now face Dorados de Sinaloa in a home and home series starting tonight, when the team from the Borderland will travel to Mexico’s west coast before returning for a Saturday match in Ciudad Juarez. Dorados advanced last weekend when they defeated Mineros de Zacatecas on the road by a score of 1-0 (1-0 aggregate score).

With Dorados will come the head coach, non other than Diego Armando Maradona, Yes that Maradona, arguably the greatest soccer player in the history of the game. That alone will be an event onto itself, Maradona roaming the sidelines at Benito Juarez Olympic Stadium. This will only with pretty much guarantee a sellout crowd on Saturday night.
