What’s there to do around here over the long Labor Day weekend? A lot, actually. Most of the events, like Fiesta de las Flores and the St. Anthony’s Bazaar, have become a family tradition for many El Pasoans, while others, like the Sun City Music Festival, are relative newcomers to the scene.

But whether the tradition is new or old, one thing is for sure; the unofficial end of summer is filled with festivals and fiestas that offer something for every taste – and taste bud!

Fiesta de las Flores – The annual celebration of Mexican music and food emphasizes El Paso Hispanic heritage and culture. This year’s featured performers include Fungi Mungle, Del Castillo, and Sonora Tropicana. Friday August 29 – Monday September 1 at the El Paso County Coliseum, 4100 Paisano. Admission is free. Events begin at 6 p.m. nightly. Website

St. Anthony’s Bazaar – The yearly fundraiser for the Franciscan seminary is three days of carnival games, live entertainment and delicious bazaar food, including the legendary gorditas. Saturday August 30 – Monday September 1 at the St. Anthony’s Seminary, 4501 Hastings at Crescent. FREE admission. Events begin daily from noon to 11 p.m.

Harvest Wine Fest – Celebrate the history of New Mexico Wines and sample vino from wineries from around the state. Food vendors, arts and crafts vendors, and live music round out the entertainment. Admission is $20, includes souvenir wine glass; under 21 free if accompanied by parent or legal guardian. Gates open Noon to 6 p.m. Saturday August 30 – Monday September 1 at the Southern New Mexico State Fairgrounds, Las Cruces. Website

Sun City Music Festival – The glow-stick EDM beat bash takes over Ascarate Park, 6900 Delta, Saturday August 30 – Sunday August 31. Saturday’s headliner is Tiësto, Sunday’s is David Guetta. 5:00 PM – 2:00 AM daily. Admission prices vary. Website

Hatch Chile Festival - The two-day celebration of the town of Hatch’s world-famous crop features food and arts and crafts vendors, carnival rides, live music and, of course, lots of fresh roasted Hatch green chile. Admission is $10 per carload. Gates open at 11 a.m. Saturday August 30 – Sunday August 31 at the Hatch Municipal Airport 1 mile west of town on HWY 26. Website
