The Texas Department of Transportation, (TxDoT), is always reminding us to slow down for the safety of their workers. Now, it seems we're more in danger than them.

Apparently, we make up 96% of work zone injuries/fatalities. In a recent press release, TxDOT Executive Director James Bass said:

“People often think work zone crashes result in the deaths of roadside workers, but statistics show the vast majority of these fatalities are drivers like you and me who are passing through as motorists.” “We urge you to pay attention and adhere to posted traffic signs when driving through work zones to ensure your safety and the safety of the men and women who are working on our roads. At the end of the day, we want everyone to return home safely to their loved ones.”

It really doesn't matter who makes up these stats, the accidents are ALL preventable. Slow down in work zones, pay attention to warning signs and ... as always ... stay off the damn phone!
