Duane Brown of the Houston Texans isn’t a household name, but thanks to his superb work in the trenches as an All-Pro offensive lineman, he helped lead his team to the playoffs by anchoring a line that garnered the Texans a 1,000-yard rusher for a third consecutive season. That running back, Arian Foster, demonstrated his appreciation for the offensive line’s hard work by purchasing Segways for Brown and the other members of the o-line for Christmas.

While Brown had hoped to be in New Orleans as a Super Bowl competitor, the fifth-year veteran out of Virginia Tech enjoyed spending time in the Big Easy before the Big Game after returning from Hawaii where he made his first career Pro Bowl appearance.

Brown took a few minutes at the NFLPA Legends Brunch on Sunday morning before the game to talk about his Grammy-winning guilty pleasure song, Houston native Beyoncé and his take on the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year and MVP awards.

What’s it like to be here in New Orleans as a fan?

Duane Brown: It’s awesome. The city of New Orleans is just so joyful. The fans and people here have really embraced the atmosphere of the Super Bowl and just seeing the excitement throughout the week has really been a great experience.

Peyton Manning won the NFL Comeback Player of the Year and Adrian Peterson won the NFL MVP. What do you think?

Duane Brown: I think they got it right. Peyton Manning sitting out of the league for a year and coming back and accomplishing what he was able to do he’s very deserving of that award. Looking at what Adrian Peterson accomplished coming off such a vicious knee injury and being able to come nine yards short of the single season record I think that’s amazing and I think he carried his team more so than Peyton did, so I think he’s deserving of it.

What famous woman do you hope is watching the Texans on Sundays?

Duane Brown: Beyoncé. She’s a Houston native so it would be great to know that she tunes into our games every now and then.

What was your first big purchase once you had some money in the bank?

Duane Brown: My first car. Well, not my first car but the first car I really wanted for a year. So heading into the league it was a Dodge Challenger. Love that car to death. Still my favorite car to this day.

What’s your guilty pleasure song on your iPod?

Duane Brown: I’ve got a lot of those! 'Somebody that I Used to Know' by Gotye. That’s an awesome song.

The original or the remix?

Duane Brown: The original. I don’t like the techno version [laughs].
