The heart displayed this season by this hard-working, not high-flying group of UTEP Miners has been well-documented.

That heart was on display again Saturday afternoon…in the blood-drenched hands of Tulsa.

The Golden Hurricane never trailed in this game.

Though UTEP was six points away after blocking a Tulsa punt for a safety, then scoring a touchdown on the resulting possession; a 94-yard kickoff return by Trey Watts sucked all the momentum away from the home team.

Senior Day, last home game, momentum after the big comeback win over East Carolina — none of it mattered.

Tulsa just stabbed, twisted and pulled.

The Golden Hurricane never took their eye off the ball, even with a huge game next weekend against Conference USA’s first late-season BCS-hopeful, Houston.

UTEP was despondent after the game, a dangerous emotion with a regular season finale coming next Friday against Central Florida in Orlando. Even if it is on the doorstep of the happiest place on earth.
