Excitement was in the air on Friday night at Hanks Excalibur Stadium, as the Knights hosted the Conquestadores in a crucial 2-4A game.  Del Valle entered the contest undefeated in District 2-4A play at 4-0, while Hanks, playing in 2-4A now came in red hot winning their last 3 games, and were undefeated in District play as well at 3-0.

Del Valle proved to the knights that they are the kings of 2-4A by winning convincingly 22-7.  The Conquestadores' defense had a stellar performance, not allowing an offensive touchdown throughout the game.  Hanks only points came from a fumble recovery in the first quarter on a 42 yard defensive touchdown by Defensive Back Idris Lee.

Del Valle was also able to keep Hanks' star wide receiver Patrick Pettis out of the end zone, which was quite impressive considering that Pettis entered the game with 9 touchdown receptions.  With an exceptional defensive and the ability to light up the scoreboard, there is no doubt that Del Valle will once again celebrate a 2-4A championship by the end of the season.  They are road warriors too, winning their last couple of 2-4A games at Riverside and Hanks.  Next Friday they will host Eastlake.

As for Hanks, they fell to 4-2 with the loss, but they will still most likely make the postseason due to their 3-1 District record.  Next Friday the Knights will travel to Lowenberg Stadium to take on Canutillo in another important 2-4A showdown. The Eagles have an identical record.   Mid October is here, the stretch run is upon us in high school football, and the playoffs will be here before we know it!
