The Del Valle Conquistadores avenged their first loss of the season against Eastlake last week by taking out their frustrations on Hanks.

Del Valle destroyed Hanks on a windy Halloween night with a 60-7 win.  The wind which made field goal attempts and punting a nightmare helped Hanks take an early 7-0 lead in the game when cornerback Andrew Flores  returned a missed 32 yard field goal with 5 seconds remaining in the first quarter.  Little did Hanks know that would be their only score of the game.

Del Valle got on a roll in the second quarter as quarterback Steven Montez scored his first of five touchdowns on a 52 yard QB keeper to tie the score up at 7-7.  Montez came back a few minutes later and threw a 29 yard touchdown to Jaylen Golden to put Del Valle up 14-7.  At that point the game was still manageable but Hanks discovered just how bad the wind was when they attempted a punt with 5:06 left in the second quarter that went a grand total of 10 yards.

Del Valle took advantage of exceptional starting field position at the Hanks' 35 when running back George De La O scored 2 plays later on a 3 yard touchdown run to put the Conquistadores up 21-7.  Hanks' bad luck with their punting game continued as Del Valle blocked an attempt with 1:50 to go in the first half at the Knights' 20.  Steven Montez continued his dominance on the ground by scoring on a 2 yard keeper to give the Conquistadores the 27-7 lead at the half.

Montez stellar performance continued in the second half when he threw two more touchdown passes in route to the decisive victory over Hanks.  Montez finished 9 for 20 with 122 yards, had 8 rushes for 122 yards and 5 touchdowns.  In total Hanks had 4 bad punts which ultimately lead to their demise.  With the victory Del Valle improved to 8-1, 5-1 in District 2-5A.  They will finish the regular season by traveling to Horizon.  Hanks moves to 5-4 on the season, 2-4 in District 2-5A and will host Eastlake next week to conclude their season.
