Cubs Acquire Aroldis Chapman from Yankees in Blockbuster Trade

The Chicago Cubs just added a huge piece to their bullpen by acquiring left-handed closer Aroldis Chapman in a five player deal with the New York Yankees in exchange for top shortstop prospect Gleyber Torres. The Yanks also will receive pitcher Adam Warren, outfield prospect Billy McKinney, and a fourth player. The 28-year old Chapman has been dominant all season, with 20 saves and a 2.01 earned run average. He will be joining the Cubs later today as they begin a series with the crosstown White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field.

For the Yankees, Torres immediately becomes their shortstop of the future. The 19-year old was the Cubs' number one overall prospect and the 26th rated in all of baseball by ESPN's Keith Law. Warren had pitched for the Yankees from 2012-15, but was acquired by the Cubs prior to this season. He pitched well as both a starter and relief pitcher last season, but had struggled with the Cubs in their bullpen. McKinney, 21, is at Double-A and hitting .252 for Tennessee with 31 RBI's.
