Former El Paso Chihuahuas skipper Pat Murphy is 5-7 since he was promoted to manage the San Diego Padres two weeks ago. The team's starting pitching is still wildly inconsistent and just a handful of players have delivered offensively. The results have definitely been less than what Padres General Manager A.J. Preller expected when he shook up the team's roster last December.

Corey Brock, who covers the Padres for MLB.com, joined Sportstalk yesterday to talk about Murph and the team. While his early results have been mixed, Brock told 600 ESPN El Paso that he needs more time to give a true evaluation on Murphy's managerial performance. The long time beat writer also discussed whether he thinks Preller will be a buyer or seller near MLB's trade deadline next month.
