Former UTEP quarterback Trevor Vittatoe will forever be the answer to a great trivia question.  On Thursday he officially became the first quarterback to sign with the Colts after they released Peyton Manning.

Colts owner Jim Irsay tweeted yesterday that Indianapolis had signed Vittatoe and offensive lineman Jake Kirkpatrick.

This is Vittatoe's second opportunity to stick on an NFL roster.  He was a preseason cut by the Bears last season.

The Colts are expected to draft Andrew Luck in April and still list quarterback Curtis Painter and Dan Orlovsky on their roster.  Unless Painter or Orlovsky are released or traded in the offseason, Vittatoe will have to beat on of them out to be on the active roster on opening day.
