Cody Decker has not had a great first month of the 2015 baseball season. Despite hitting just .229 in April, his first hit in the month of May was a big one; a third inning grand slam home run off of Jake Buchanan that helped lead the El Paso Chihuahuas to a 13-6 win over the Fresno Grizzlies. The bomb was only Decker's third homer this season, but it is not a surprise considering he is traditionally a slow starter. The fan favorite has compiled almost identical April stats in Triple-A each of the last two seasons, but his offensive numbers explode between June and August. Patience is the key with the 28-year old, who is still hoping for his first call-up to the Major Leagues. Meanwhile, the Chihuahuas are just a half game behind Las Vegas for first place in the Pacific Coast League's Pacific Southern Division. El Paso and Fresno will play the second game of their four-game series tonight at 8:05pm and Tim Hagerty will call the action on 600 ESPN El Paso.
