In an effort to secure the 2014 C-USA men's and women's basketball tournament, El Paso city council voted yesterday to offer up to $500,000 in additional guarantees.  That's $300,000 more than requested by local officials to lure the tournament back to El Paso.  The city had originally guaranteed $250,000 to host the 2014 tournament.

C-USA officials will meet next week to decide where the 2014 tournament will be held.  Other cities in the running are Memphis and Orlando.  Orlando has offered a $750,000 guarantee while Memphis has offered $900,000.

In a cost cutting tweak from '11, both tournaments would be played at the Haskins Center.  That move would save an estimated $250,000.
