Bravos de FC Juarez lost its second match in as many matches and first in Copa MX competition by a score of 1-0 to Chivas de Guadalajara at Omnilife Stadium in Zapopan, Jalisco last night. This result leaves Bravos with 3 points in the competition after 2 matches with 4 matches to go in the opening round.

The match's lone goal came in the 2 minute of play on a breakaway done the left flank, by midfielder Miguel Angel Ponce centered to ball to a Ricardo Michel Vasquez who was waiting all by his lonesome to head the ball past Bravos goalkeeper Yair Urbina.

From there the game would convert itself into back and forth match in which the team from the Borderland produced fewer chances on goal than usual, yet they were more and much clearer chances than those generated by the hosting Chivas.

Despite FC Juarez losing a player (defender, Ivan Pineda) in the 70th minute due to a well deserved red card the Chivas could not extend their lead to make for a more thorough victory.

After the match, Bravos head coach, Sergio Orduna gave his thoughts on the defeat.

Orduna commented, “We played a hard fought competitive match. We failed to execute on 2 or 3 clear chances on goal. After that losing a player because of the red card, we were affected as could be expected. At the end of the day, I think that the played well and obviously we will return home upset with the result.”

Up next for FC Juarez will be a home match in league competition (Ascenso MX) against Atlante on Saturday afternoon at Benito Juarez Olympic Stadium. FC Juarez defeated Atlante for the championship of the 2015 Apertura last month.
