The El Paso Chihuahuas took a six-run lead early and never looked back in their 8-2 win over the Nashville Sounds Tuesday at Southwest University Park. It was the first-ever meeting between the two clubs.
The Chihuahuas scored three runs in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Cody Decker and a two-run home run by Adam Moore. One inning later, Alex Castellanos reached base and brought home a run on a misplayed ground ball by Nashville shortstop Hector Gomez. El Paso continued scoring in the third when Taylor Lindsey hit a high home run on top of right field’s Big Dog House, his first homer at Southwest University Park since being traded from the Angels in late July.
Tyler Greene went 0-for-5 with an RBI for El Paso, ending his 14-game hitting streak, which is the longest streak to date by a Chihuahuas player. Chris Rearick pitched two scoreless innings to close the game and has allowed only one earned run in his last 13 outings. The Chihuahuas have won five of their last seven games.
The Chihuahuas jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and the Adam Moore 2-Run home run helped.
Then in the third inning, Taylor Lindsey had his own 2-Run shot that would help the Chihuahuas seal the victory early.
