The Round Rock Express scored five early runs against El Paso starter Billy Buckner in their 6-4 win over the Chihuahuas Monday night at Southwest University Park. The Chihuahuas scored four unanswered runs at one point to cut Round Rock’s lead to one, but El Paso could not mount a scoring threat in the final three innings.

One night after a walk-off single, Alex Castellanos went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in the loss. Branch Kloess helped the Chihuahuas comeback efforts by pitching 3.1 scoreless innings in relief of Buckner. Cody Decker went 2-for-4 with two singles before being ejected in the eighth inning arguing a called third strike. The discussion also led to manager Pat Murphy’s ejection.

Round Rock won three of the four games in the series. The Chihuahuas dropped six out of eight on the homestand.

This solo home run from Alex Castellanos got the Chihuahuas on the board in the third.

In the 4th, Rico Noel scored on a misjudged fly ball by the Round Rock right fielder.
