The El Paso Chihuahuas defeated the Fresno Grizzlies 5-4 Tuesday to win their fifth straight game. The victory also ended Fresno’s nine-game winning streak, which had been professional baseball’s longest active streak.

 

The Chihuahuas fell behind in the second inning when Chris Dominguez hit a two-run double and Joe Panik was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. El Paso scored three runs to tie the game on a bases loaded triple by Tommy Medica in the bottom of the third then added runs in the fourth and sixth innings on a sacrifice fly by Jake Lemmerman and an RBI single by Alex Castellanos.

 

Fresno scored a run in the seventh but Chris Rearick retired Nick Noonan to leave the tying run on base in the eighth and Blaine Boyer pitched a perfect ninth for his second save of the season. Starter Juan Oramas allowed three runs (all earned) in six innings for El Paso.

 

The Chihuahuas came back from an early deficit in all five games of the winning streak.

 

Tommy Medica ties it at 3-3 with a bases clearing triple.

 

Francoeur scores on a Jake Lemmerman Sac Fly to make it 4-3.

Alex Castellanos plates Cody Decker with what turned out to be the winning run to make it  5-4 Chihuahuas.
