The El Paso Chihuahuas received some good news today when two of their players were named to the Pacific Coast League All Star Team. Starting pitcher Brett Kennedy and middle infielder Luis Urias will both represent El Paso on Wednesday, July 11th at the Triple-A All Star Game in Columbus, Ohio.

The roster is made up of 13 elected players who have received the most votes from ballots submitted by club’s field managers and general managers, members of the media and broadcasters, and online fan voting. The elected players are joined by 20 additional All-Stars selected by Pacific Coast League officials.

Kennedy has been the Chihuahuas' most consistent pitcher this season, compiling a record of 5-0 with a 3.06 ERA in 10 starts this season. The 23-year old was an 11th round draft pick of the San Diego Padres in 2015 and he has pitched well at every professional level. Urias is one of the Padres' top minor league infielders and MLB.com rated him the 30th best prospect in baseball. He is batting .268 with six homers and 28 RBI's this season. Urias is viewed as the Padres' second baseman of the future.

Three former Chihuahuas were also elected to the PCL All Star Team. Oklahoma City catcher Rocky Gale, Sacramento infielder Chase d'Arnaud, and Salt Lake outfielder Jabari Blash all spent time with El Paso.

The Chihuahuas have won eight straight and they are now just two games behind Salt Lake City for first place in the PCL's Pacific Southern Division. They wrap up their series with Fresno tonight before welcoming Albuquerque to Southwest University Park for five games. The Triple-A All Star Game will be broadcast live on 600 ESPN El Paso beginning at 5 p.m. on July 11th.
