The El Paso Chihuahuas held Albuquerque to three hits in their 10-2 win over the Isotopes Monday night at Southwest University Park. Chihuahuas righthander Keyvius Sampson limited Albuquerque to two runs on one hit in five innings of work. Sampson has allowed just three runs in his last 12 innings.

 

El Paso scored first when Adam Moore launched a home run over the center field wall in the second inning. Rehabbing Los Angeles Dodgers catcher A.J. Ellis hit a go-ahead, two-run home run in the top of the fifth for Albuquerque. One day after hitting two home runs, El Paso third baseman Brooks Conrad hit another in Monday’s three-run fifth inning.

 

The Chihuahuas sent ten batters to the plate in a five-run eighth inning to put the game out of reach. Both pitching staffs combined to strike out 32 batters Monday. Chihuahuas pitchers have allowed only two runs in their last 21 innings of work. El Paso right fielder Jeff Francoeur was hit in the helmet with a Jose Dominguez fastball in the seventh inning but stayed in the game.
