A solid second-half defensive effort lifted the UTEP Miners over Oral Roberts, 69-49. Freshman Chris Washburn scored 14 points in his debut, including these two on an impressive alley-oop slam from Jacques Streeter.

That the win came from great team defense impressed Miners head coach Tim Floyd, who noted that he's usually lamenting a loss in first games. He also noted things will get a lot more serious next Thursday night when the Miners face the 11th-ranked Arizona Wildcats in Tucson. The game tips off at 8 p.m. MST and can be seen on Fox Sports.
