The Irvin Rockets gave the Chapin Huskies all they could handle in the first set of the teams' District 1-4A showdown at Irvin before the Huskies survived, 27-25. But Chapin then went on to dominate, winning the next two sets handily, 25-8, 25-6, to move to 6-0 in district play.

The Huskies athleticism showed through in that tough first set, even as the team struggled to get into a groove. But when the hard-hitting duo of Mariessa Carrasco and Rachel Pirtle got untracked, they were hard to beat.

That, plus the outstanding service of senior libero Brianna Gonzalez got the Huskies moving to start the second set. In one stretch, Gonzalez served eight straight points, including five aces, as Chapin took control of the match and never looked back.
