Confident coming off a another big win, Chapin Husky football meets another northeast rival playing Irvin rockets Friday night at Irvin memorial stadium. Chapin has a 9-0 all time series lead against Irvin.

Last season, Chapin came away with a 31-21 victory over the Rockets.

Chapin is going into the game 2-2 while Irvin is going into the game 1-3.

“We need to keep up the momentum. Irvin’s a good team and we earned a good win last week. But, we can’t get cocky,” quarterback Seth Gonzales said.

Chapin hopes for one advantage over the Irvin Rockets which is he Rocket’s quarterback is a freshman.

“Since the quarterback is a freshman we’re going to try to push him around and try to force him into mistakes,” defensive end John Lozano said.

Although the Husky defense improved and showed tremendous strength some players think that there is still some work to be done on both sides of the ball.

“Pass blocking needs to improve and the cornerbacks need to step up on their coverage,” runningback Deandre Turner-Fults said.

The Husky offense is pumped for the game and wants to add to the excitement for the Husky fans with more big plays and better offensive execution.

“I want to score and get more yards to help my team get another win against Irvin,” Turner-Fults said.

The Chapin Husky football team looks to cancel the flight of the Irvin Rockets this Friday night with kickoff at 7 p.m.
