Cathedral Looking to Bounce Back Against Fabens this Friday

Boy, was that a tough loss for the Irish. The Canutillo Eagles held everything we threw at them beating the Irish 35-0. And our defense just could not over power the super-sized Eagle offensive line and and agile running game. But that's behind us now, we take on a new opponent; the Fabens Wildcats. The Wildcats are coming off a huge win against San Elizario by a score of 35-6. Again, the Irish need to gain momentum and keep it against this already lifted team.

Americas Trailblazers Dominated the Coronado Thunderbirds at the SAC

After a loss in its first district game of the season, Americas took out its anger on winless Coronado Friday night at the SAC. The high powered Americas offense never seemed to stop pumping out points, and the Coronado offense that hasn’t been able to get going remained consistent by not scoring. If these two themes continue, Americas and Coronado will be moving in different directions from one another rapidly.

Cathedral Hoping to Keep the Momentum Going Against Canutillo This Friday

The Irish have come off a fantastic shut-out win against the Mountain View Lobos. It capped a great Homecoming week for the Cathedral family. This week gets a little bit difficult taking on the always supersized Canutillo Eagles. The Eagles are coming of a 21-6 win over the Gadsden Panthers. Both teams hold records of 2-1. The Irish look to continue momentum and get that 3rd win.

Walking into the Burges football locker room, the mission is clear. The words, “Payback Tour 2011” hang on the white board, and players can’t miss it.

Cathedral High School was the first on the “tour” schedule. Burges paid back the Irish in a 35-7 win after losing to them last year.

After scoring a touchdown just minutes into the first quarter using some trickery against the Mustangs last Friday, the Irish just couldn't hold of Burges' ground attack, losing our first game of the 2011 season 35-7.
