The reception area of the Larry K. Durham Center was filled with the faithful -- UTEP boosters and a number of ex-players -- all ready to welcome back one of their own to lead the Miners' football program. Sean Kugler was re-introduced to El Paso and took virtually no time to express his love for the university and the community.
Former UTEP player and coach Sean Kugler was named the 25th head coach of the Miners on Monday. Kugler was on the UTEP staff from 1993-2000, compensation is being negotiated and will require approval by the UT System Board of Regents.
The UTEP Miners squandered an 18 point lead, but held on to win their second consecutive game by defeating Idaho 64-60. The Miners were fortunate to get the win, considering that they were held to just two field goals over the final 12:15 of the game.
