UTEP Men’s Basketball Brings Back The 1980s

When I heard the news that the UTEP Men's basketball team was "Bringing Back the 80's," I could not be any happier. Some of my favorite Miner memories were from the teams of the 1980s. Who could forget names like Terry White, Virgil Kennedy, Fred Reynolds, Luster Goodwin, Juden Smith, Kent Lockhart, Dave Feitl, Wayne "Soup" Campbell, Tim Hardaway, Chris, Blocker, Greg Foster, and so many more.

UTEP Is Embarrassed And Shutout 17-0 By SMU

 

The last time the Miners were shutout at home was in 2003 when they lost 34-0 to San Diego State.  Nearly a decade later SMU accomplished the same feat by defeating UTEP 17-0 at the Sun Bowl.  It has been the same old song for UTEP all season long, they played a solid game defensively, but continue to have no offensive rhythm at all.

Week 5 and the Dallas Cowboys are resting this weekend in their bye-week. After their loss in Week 4 on Monday Night Football to the Chicago Bears, many fans have given up and lost hope. But the season is still young. As far as UTEP, they're spiriling downward and it's just the begining of conference play. As far as football goes, the majority of El Pasoans are feeling a bit bummed when it comes to their teams.
