Sacramento starter Dan Straily allowed only one run in seven innings of work in the River Cats 2-1 victory over the El Paso Chihuahuas Monday at Raley Field. It was Straily’s second Triple-A appearance of the season after being optioned by the Oakland A’s.

Neither side scored in the first four innings of the pitchers’ duel between Straily and El Paso’s Billy Buckner. Brooks Conrad broke the scoreless tie in the fifth inning by hitting a solo home run into the right-field bullpen, his seventh homer of the season. One inning later, former San Diego Padre Andy Parrino hit a game-tying home run, also into the right field bullpen. Sacramento’s Alden Carrithers lined an RBI single over leaping shortstop Jace Peterson in the seventh to put the River Cats ahead.

One night after a seven-run comeback, the Chihuahuas went down quietly in the late innings, with Sacramento retiring nine straight batters to end the game. El Paso’s Jake Goebbert walked three times in his first game against his former team. Buckner surrendered two runs on seven hits in 6.2 innings of work for El Paso.

Brooks Conrad scored the only C-Dawgs run by hitting this solo home run in the fifth inning.
