The Bowie Bears dominated the majority of their game against Burges with an effective ground game and a impressive defensive performance.  The Bears won 27-13, evening their record at 2-2.  The game was a defensive battle for over a quarter as Bowie scored the first touchdown of the contest at the 9:35 mark of the second quarter when running back Arturo Madrid broke away for a 49 yard touchdown.  Bowie held their narrow 7-0 lead at the half, but came out strong in the third quarter with a stifling defensive effort.

Burges had scoring opportunities in the second half but turned the ball over three times including two fumbles and one interception that ended any hope of a comeback.  Bowie capitalized off of the Burges' blunders scoring touchdowns on all three turnovers.   Burges made a bit of a run late in the game when DB Jacob Alacon scored a 20 yard defensive touchdown off of Bowie quarterback Eric Pichardo's fumble late in the 4th quarter.

Bowie's ground game was quite effective, Arturo Madrid had 132 rushing yards on just 5 carries, scoring touchdowns of 49 and 70 yards.  Running back Ryan Gonzales added 79 yards on 6 carries and a TD.  Bowie won their first game in District 1-5A and will travel to Andress next week.  Burges fell to 0-4 on the season, 0-2 in District 1-5A play.  They will host Chapin next Friday.
