Four Reno pitchers combined to shut out the El Paso Chihuahuas Friday, 2-0. El Paso’s best scoring opportunity came in the seventh inning, when the Chihuahuas loaded the bases with two outs. Jeff Francoeur hit a hard ground ball up the middle but Aces’ shortstop Nick Ahmed fielded the ball behind second base and threw on the run in time to get Francoeur and end the El Paso threat. Alberto Gonzalez had two hits in the Chihuahuas loss.

Reno catcher Blake Lalli hit an RBI double in the fourth inning for the first run of the game. The Aces added a second run in the eighth on an RBI groundout by Alfredo Marte. El Paso starter Keyvius Sampson allowed one run in 4.1 innings, while Chihuahuas’ reliever Tony Sipp struck out four in only 1.2 innings of work.
