As NFL rosters must trim down to 53-players, the Baltimore Ravens have elected to waive inside linebacker and former UTEP standout Alvin Jones, Jeff Zrebiec reported earlier today.

Zrebiec also reports that Jones had an undisclosed injury with the team, thus allowing the Ravens to waive him. He had missed practice for just over two weeks and did not play in Baltimore's preseason games against the Colts or the Dolphins.

Prior to this, Jones had two impressive first outings with Baltimore in their first two preseason games. Against the Bears and the Rams, Jones registered five tackles in both games.

Jones was getting reps on defense and special teams, and against the Rams, Jones played some significant minutes.

He was an undrafted free agent signed by the Ravens following the 2018 NFL Draft. With the Miners, he finished his career posting 343 career tackles, which ranks the second-best at UTEP since the 2000 season. He also had 15 sacks, ranking tied for fourth in school history.
