Steve Kaplowitz

Steve Kaplowitz, originally from New York, moved to El Paso in 1978. After graduating from Coronado High School and receiving his bachelor’s of arts in broadcast journalism from the University of Texas in 1995, he returned to El Paso to pursue a career in radio. In 1996, Steve began hosting a weekend sports talk show on KROD 600. One year later, he took over as the station’s Program Director and moved into weekday afternoon timeslot as the host of Sportstalk. In 2007, Kaplowitz was the television play-by-play voice for NMSU football and basketball, and he has also served as play-by-play announcer and analyst for the UTEP Miners women’s basketball team, the El Paso Buzzards Hockey Club and the High School Football Game of the Week. Steve has worked as both a reporter and weekend anchor at KDBC-TV (CBS) and KTSM-TV (NBC) and currently co-hosts Time Warner’s coverage of UTEP sports on the Texas Channel with Duke Keith. Kaplowitz and his wife Karen reside in West El Paso.

Report Card: Wisconsin 37 UTEP 26

Much like the previous games, the Miners hung tough and trailed Wisconsin by just 4 points with a little more than 3 minutes remaining. The Badgers were able to survive the scare and win the ballgame by a final score of 37-26.
