Steve Kaplowitz

I'm originally from Brooklyn, New York and moved to El Paso in 1978. After attending Coronado High School and the University of Texas, I returned to El Paso to start my professional radio career. For the last 16 years, I've hosted Sportstalk, El Paso’s longest running local radio talk show. On May 1st 2013, I was inducted into the El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame in the media category. It's quite an honor and also a sign that I'm getting old. My favorite professional sports teams are the New York Mets, Jets, Knicks, and Rangers. I grew up a huge UTEP basketball fan, and working with Don Haskins is the highlight of my radio career. My favorite movie is Goodfellas, I enjoy listening to rock music, and I'd like to someday be a restaurant critic.

The Evolution of James Harden’s Beard [PHOTOS]

A few years ago, I posted a blog that chronicled the evolution of Brian Wilson's beard. The former San Francisco Giants closer was once a young, clean-shaven reliever until he decided to let his beard grow out to better resemble a Hasidic rabbi. It is time to examine another star athlete who's beard has become a major conversation pi

Former UTEP Miner Julyan Stone Signs With Toronto Raptors

During the last two seasons, Julyan Stone has had trouble getting his NBA career underway because of injuries. The former Miner point guard has seen little playing time with the Denver Nuggets but hoped to get an expanded opportunity next season. Stone might get his wish but it will be in Canada and not the Mile High City. Ear
