Are You Watching the Winter X Games? — Sports Survey of the Day

In the 1990s, something new, called “extreme sports,” quickly became all the rage. So ESPN came up with an event to showcase those sports, which involved skateboards, BMX bikes and motorcycles, called the X Games, but are people still interested?

While the summer X Games have been going on since 1995, the winter version didn’t start until two years later. Now that snowboarding is an official Olympic sport, have the X Games been marginalized?

The big names are still there, for the most part, and they are definitely entertaining to watch—especially when someone like Shaun White nails a big trick.
