El Paso featherweight boxer Antonio Escalante added another impressive win to his resume with a second round knockout of Mexico's Leonil Miranda in San Antonio Saturday night. Both fighters did little to excite the crowd in the first round, but the fun started about a minute into the second round.

Miranda connected with a left hand to Escalante's head that appeared the daze him. As Miranda tried to corner his opponent and put more pressure on him, Escalante landed a gorgeous counter-right square on Miranda's jaw. The punch was so perfectly placed that Miranda never made it back to his feet and Escalante won his 28th career fight as a professional. It will be interesting to see what Golden Boy Promotions has planned for the El Pasoan, who just finished the first of a 3-fight deal with them.
