It was the best of halves, it was the worst of halves. But the bad half really got to Tim Floyd. We have the video to prove it.

UTEP's head coach all but promised there would be repercussions after the Miners committed 15 turnovers in the second half despite a relatively easy 72-54 win over Florida A&M in the Corpus Christi Coastal Classic.

The Rattlers never got close to UTEP, which moves to 4-0; but after a great opening 20 minutes, the Miners head coach expected much better.

UTEP shot 50 percent in each half, but managed to work for 10 more shots in the first half than the last. Turnovers will do that to a team.

The Miners have held all four opening opponents under 40-percent from the field (FAMU shot 34.5% Tuesday night) matching the 1974 Miners who hold the record, doing the same to their first seven opponents to start that season. But Floyd was in no frame of mind to praise his team's defensive efforts.

Floyd will have a couple of practices before the team leaves for Corpus Christi to play undefeated Southern Illinois Friday at 1:30 p.m. His players will probably be ready to get away from him by then.

The game will be televised by the American Sports Network.
