As I write this post on a Sunday afternoon, two things come to mind. Justin Hurtt crushed the spirits of UTEP fans with his game winning jumper late in last night's game.  No matter the record or sport, Tulsa always plays UTEP tough.  However, that was just one game and the Miners still sit in a three way tie atop the C-USA standings with Memphis State and UAB.

The bigger tragedy for sports fans is that we must face the reality that football season is over.  I get that there is still the Super Bowl, but that is more of a national holiday than a football game.  There is the Pro-Bowl tonight, but that doesn't really fill the void.  My favorite thing about the Pro-Bowl is that everyone claims they don't watch it, yet we will tune to try and get our fix.  We know it's not the same, since the game means nothing and there is basically no tackling.  That doesn't stop us because it resembles a real football game.  I've been watching the Pro Bowl nearly twenty years and I still can't get over the team helmets matched with the loud red and blue uniforms.  Either make matching helmets or have the players wear their team uniforms!!!!!  Like any adaptive sports fan I guess I'll have to condition myself to watching hoops, golf, and............hockey??
