The 6th annual Teddy Bear Toss in memory of my friend Joni Arnett takes place this Saturday, February 22nd at the El Paso Rhinos hockey game.

Joni, a former model and UTEP professor tragically lost her life nearly 7 years ago, and in honor of her memory Joni's parents established the annual Teddy Bear Toss event which has been an overwhelming success the past several years.  Rhinos fans are encouraged to bring a teddy bear to Saturday night's game verses the Ice Jets.  When the Rhinos score their first goal of the contest fans will throw their teddy bears on the ice.

The teddy bears will be collected by El Paso Rhinos officials and then the El Paso Police Department and El Paso Fire stations donate them to children in crises.  It is a perfect tribute to Joni who truly was an amazing person.

The game begins at 7:30, fans should arrive no later than 6:45 to get a seat and enjoy an evening of hockey, teddy bear tossing, and most importantly celebrating Joni's life and helping children in need.  I encourage everyone to attend this wonderful event, it is one you will never forget.

There are certain people that come into our lives that have an immediate impact on us.  Joni was that kind of person, the Teddy Bear Toss ensures that her memory will live on forever, SWJ! (Soar With Joni)
