Official Wiffle Ball Home Run Derby Rules

Registration begins Tuesday June 26, 2012 for Hudson’s First Ever Wiffle Ball Home Run Derby on line at 600ESPNElPaso.com and at Hudson’s Classic Grill. 600 ESPN El Paso and Hudson’s will randomly draw 20 contestants for the event. We will draw 4 attritional alternates on Thursday July 9, 2012, contestants will be contacted via email and/or phone to confirm their participation.

The event will take place on Tuesday July 10, 2012 at 6pm in the parking lot Hudson’s Classic Grill.

The parking lot will be blocked off and a defined field will be in place.

Field dimensions from home plate to straight-away center field fence will be approximately 90 feet, the left field and right field foul point will be approximately 75 feet.

Ball Park food and beverages will be available in the parking lot and inside Hudson’s. Contestants are not restricted in their choice to consume alcoholic beverages.

Each of the 20 contestants and alternates that sign in at Hudson’s receive a pair of tickets to a Diablo’s game 2012 home game.

Contestants must sign in at Hudson’s on July 10th 2012 no later than 5:45p MST

Each Contestant must be 21 yrs or older and will provide their own pitcher (no age restriction for pitchers). Each Contestant will have ten outs to hit as many home runs as possible over the defined fence.

Outs consist of any swing in attempt to hit the ball that does not carry in the air over the defined fence in defined fair ball territory, swings with no contact count as an out.

Each swing that carries over the defined fence in defined fair ball territory will count for one point.

At the completion of Round One, the four contestants with the highest total points will move to Round Two, where the process will be repeated. Each Round the contestants will start with a score of zero. The two contestants with highest total points from Round Two will advance to the Championship Round. The Championship Round will begin anew following the same format as the previous rounds, the contestant with the most points in the Final Round will be deemed the winner.

The winner will receive one Diablo Sky Box Experience for eight including one-hundred dollar credit for food and nonalcoholic beverages, a One-hundred dollar gift card to Hudson’s and a Hudson’s Wiffle Ball home Run Derby Trophy. Second place will receive a fifty dollar gift card from Hudson’s.

Unruly conduct by any constant or pitcher will not be tolerated and could if deemed necessary by the judges result in removal from the event and ejection from the property.

Tie breakers will be a series of 3 pitch at bats counting points until a winner of the tie is determined.

Only official Wiffle Balls and Wiffle Bats will be used, contestants may use their own Official Wiffle Bats which will be inspected. If a contestant does not have an official Wiffle Bat one will be provided to him/her for use during their at bats. Wiffle Balls to be pitched will be provided by the event coordinators.

Home runs and out will be determined by the judges. Decisions of the Judges are Final.
