It was 51 years ago today the first Super Bowl was played, although they didn't call it the Super Bowl at the time. And it wasn't nearly the spectacle we know the Super Bowl to be today. But, as far as the game is concerned, the Green Bay Packers were the first Super Bowl Champions, defeating the Kansas City Chiefs 35 to 10.

The game was broadcast on both CBS and NBC, but wasn't close to selling out. It was played at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, which has a capacity of over 90,000, but only 61,946 attended the game.

For the longest time it was believed that there was no complete footage of the first Super Bowl, despite the fact it was broadcast on two networks. However, NFL Films searched its enormous archives and found footage of all 145 plays a couple years ago. The NFL Network broadcast Super Bowl I: The Lost Game two years ago today.
